In the last few days, we’ve had the opportunity of having a new home built or renovated, and we’ve been talking about how to incorporate the three levels of self-awareness. The way that we put this together is so easy they’re almost impossible to miss. And what was a step in a long time, no matter how much we spend, we still have a lot to learn about self-awareness.

One of the things we discovered in all of our research is that we can get pretty good at self-awareness. But there’s a lot we don’t know. For example, what our senses tell us about ourselves.

We know that we talk to ourselves. We know that we do a lot of things. We know that we have a pretty good sense of how we look and how we feel in general. But what we don’t know is that we also have a pretty good sense of how we feel in particular. Like we know that we’re scared, but also we know that we are afraid of falling off the edge of a cliff or not getting to the bottom of a lake.

In general, we know that we are scared all the time, but we dont know what it is that makes us feel that way. It is this third sense that we might use to our advantage. This is called “self-awareness.” Because we often use a third side of ourselves to help us deal with the first two, we tend to think that we have a better idea of ourselves than we really do.
